Baking Memories 4 Kids surprises TUSD family with trip to Disney World

A Fruchthendler Elementary School third grader was surprised Friday morning with a weeklong trip to Disney World and Universal Studios Orlando.

In 2014, Brayden was diagnosed with spinal muscular atrophy, a genetic neuromuscular disease. Brayden’s father passed away later that year after he was diagnosed with lymphoma. Earlier this year, Brayden’s 3-year-old brother was also diagnosed with SMA. SMA is the leading genetic cause of death in infants and toddlers.

The non-profit Baking Memories 4 Kids funded a weeklong, all-expense paid trip to all Florida’s theme parks for Brayden and his family. The organization funded the trip through the proceeds made in its holiday cookie sales.

According to the non-profit, Brayden was surprised by the founder of Baking Memories 4 Kids, Frank Squeo. He delivered the news of the trip and gave cookies to all the children in the school.
